| Norman Arsenault is
one of the true masters of the art pottery movement in this
country. Arsenault graduated from the Worcester Museum of Fine Arts School in
the early 1930s with a major in Ceramics and continued his education at the
"Ecole des Arts Decoratifs" in Paris. He studied glaze chemistry with Dr. Harder
at the State University of New York. In the late 30s Mr. Arsenault established the
Department of Ceramics in the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and
remained there until his retirement in 1972. Most of 1955 was spent in Japan
where he worked in the studios of six of Japan's "National Treasures" including
Hamada and Kato. Norman Arsenault is well represented in the Department of Decoration
and Scupture in the Boston Museum of Fine Art. | ||||
